91 pt Chard Test

How About a 91 Point
Balanced and Creamy Central Coast Chard at Nearly 40% Off ?

This week's selection : Cambria Estate Winery Chardonnay, Santa Maria Valley, Katherine's Vineyard, 2012; a crisp, creamy and well-balanced Chardonnay that's a great aperitif wine, that works with fish, chicken cheeses and more!

We got a great deal on this balanced Chard from Cambria Vineyards! Katherine's Vineyard Chardonnay has bright aromas of fresh mango, white peach, citrus, vanilla bean and spice. The same fruit characters are on the palate, accentuated by a mouthwatering balanced acidity and subtle oak spice. The finish is lingering, clean and crisp.

Katherine's Vineyard is named after owner Barbara Banke's oldest daughter, Katherine. It is a blend from 15 different blocks of both classic and contemporary Chardonnay clones, in sand and granite soils. Aged in barrel for five months in mostly French oak and a little stainless steel.

Winemaker Denise Shurtleff says: "The 2012 Katherine's Vineyard Chardonnay has subtle tropical and citrus aromas with pineapple, stone fruit and apple flavors. Oak and vanilla balance out the flavors on the palate. Nicely balanced with weight on the mid-palate leading into a crisp, fresh finish."

91 points, Cellar Selection, Wine Enthusiast

90 points, Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate - "The 2012 Katherine's Vineyard offers beautiful flint-like minerality to go with stone fruits, white flowers, vanilla curd and brioche on the nose. Medium-bodied, tight, fresh and elegant, it's a superb value to enjoy over the coming couple of years."

90 points, The Tasting Panel - "Bright and juicy with citrus, stone fruit and tropical notes; lush and ripe, creamy and long, balanced and rich."
