When I emigrated from San Francisco to the East Bay in 1997, a very funny friend of mine wagged:  "Welcome to the Nickle Dime, Jeffy!"  It took me a minute or so to realize that he was referring to our area code in the vernacular, and I've held the descriptor very near to my heart since.

So, I was pleased when I learned about these new cocktail syrups, lovingly handcrafted by local gal Absinthia Vermut (her real name).

Their most popular syrup is called Caged Heat, a blend of Tamarind, Cardamom and Ghost Pepper, is amazing.  Sure, it's got a kick, but the heat  is tempered by deep flavors.   Try it in Caged Heat cocktail - 2 oz. bourbon, 1 oz. Lemon Juice, 1 oz. Caged Heat syrup.

We also carry their Fairy Dust syrup, which presents Fennel, Anise and Wormwood - a delightful, refreshing burst of flavor. Try is in a Spring Old Fashioned - 2 oz. Whisk(e)y, .5 oz. Fairy Dust Syrup and 2 dashes of Orange bitters.
