This week's selection : Ferrari Perlé 2006 a vintage méthode Champenoise sparkler that's perfect for year-end celebrations
Ferrari Perlé has an intense yet finessed bouquet, with scents of almond blossom, apples, a faint spiciness and a hint of crusty bread. Dry, crisp and elegant, with a very persistent finish.
Made from 100% Chardonnay grapes, Ferrari Perlé is made using the traditional Méthode Champenoise. After a hand-harvest in September, the wine undergoes a gentle pressing and first fermentation in tanks. The wine is then bottled and a second fermentation occurs with selected yeasts. The resulting wine is matured for 48 months on the lees, with a gradual turning of the bottle (rémuage). Sediment is removed through disgorgement. The final touch is the addition of the "liqueur d'expedition" and selected wines.
"Ferrari is a leading name in Italian sparkling wine production, using the "Champagne method. The nose is full of pastry, lime and a touch of the exotic with pineapple and mango. True to the Ferrari style, it is 100% Chardonnay." Decanter January 2013
"This is rich, creamy and zesty at the same time, redolent of citrus, peach, pear and Golden Delicious apple, followed by opulent tones of toasted nut and freshly baked bread. Bright acidity brings the wine to a refreshing close." 91 Points, Wine Enthusiast
